Description
Just like our Irish brothers, in the early 1800’s the Scottish couldn’t find work in America. They also took the dirty, dangerous, unwanted jobs……firefighting. When they immigrated they brought many of their traditions with them, the Great Highland Bagpipes being one. It wasn’t uncommon for several Scottish firefighters to be killed in the line of duty at once. Bagpipes were often played at their funerals. And so the Scottish made their impression on firefighting in America.
This design is dedicated to the Scotts and the mark they made on American firefighting, kilt and all.
